The Governor approved Public Act 25-112 on June 24, 2025. Section 14 rewrote Conn. Gen. Stat. 42-301 to bar conducting or promoting a sweepstakes that allows or facilitates participation in real or simulated online casino gaming or sports wagering without a chapter 229b licence. A violation carries the professional-gambling penalty of Conn. Gen. Stat. 53-278b, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in prison and a fine of up to $2,000, and it is also an unfair or deceptive trade practice.

Connecticut's ban on sweepstakes casinos took effect, making it unlawful to conduct or promote a sweepstakes that allows participation in real or simulated online casino gaming without a state licence. The measure was supported by the state's regulated online casino and sports betting operators, who argued sweepstakes casinos undermined the regulated market.
